What LifeLink KH is

LifeLink KH (ជីវិត) is a free app that connects patients and families who need blood with nearby voluntary donors whose blood type matches.

In Cambodia, blood emergencies are still coordinated by Facebook post. A post reaches whoever happens to be scrolling. It can't filter by blood type or distance, and it can't wake a phone at 2am. LifeLink sends a push alert to compatible donors near the hospital, and only to them.

Not a replacement for the blood centre

LifeLink KH helps connect donors and patients. It does not replace the National Blood Transfusion Center or medical advice. In an emergency, talk to the hospital first.

How it works, in four steps

  1. A family asks for blood in the app: the patient's blood type, how many units, which hospital, how urgent, and a callback number.
  2. An admin checks the request is genuine before anyone is alerted.
  3. LifeLink alerts matching donors: donors whose blood type is compatible, who are available and eligible to donate, and who are within about 10 km of the hospital.
  4. A donor accepts, sees the family's phone number, and goes to donate at the hospital or blood bank. The family is told a donor is coming.

Things to know first

  • It is free. LifeLink never asks for money. By national policy blood is free to the patient. Never pay anyone for blood or a donor.
  • Any family member can help. At the hospital's blood bank a relative of any blood type can donate, and the bank gives the patient the type they need. See How getting blood works.
  • Your exact location stays private. Other people only ever see your district (khan).
