Frequently asked questions

Who gets alerted about a request?

Only donors whose blood type is compatible with the patient's, who are available and eligible, and who are within about 10 km of the hospital (or shared only their district). Nobody is alerted until an admin has checked the request.

How often can I donate?

LifeLink counts 3 months (90 days) for men and 4 months (120 days) for women, as blood centres in Cambodia do. If you don't give your sex, it counts 4 months. The centre makes the final check.

Who can see my location?

Other people only ever see your district (khan), never your exact location. The coordinates you share are used only to measure distance to a hospital.

Who can see my phone number?

A requester's callback number is shown only to donors who accept that request. A donor's details are seen by the LifeLink admin. The public board on the website shows the donors who accepted a request by first name and initials (for example "Sothea N."), never a phone number. That page is kept out of search engines, and deleting your account removes your name from it.

Does it cost money?

No. LifeLink never asks for money. Blood is free to the patient by national policy. Never pay or accept payment for blood.

I don't know my blood type.

A hospital can test it. LifeLink can't match you to a patient without it.

Can I stop alerts without deleting my account?

Yes. Turn off Available for requests in Me → My donor profile.

What if I have no internet when I answer?

Your answer is saved on your phone and sent when you are back online.

Someone asked me for money, or the request looks fake.

Open the request and tap Report this request. Only the admin sees who reported it.

How do I delete my account?

Open the Me tab and tap Delete account. You will be asked to sign in again to confirm. Without the app, follow the steps on the account deletion page.

No. LifeLink KH is an independent, open-source community project. It helps connect donors and patients; the hospital and the National Blood Transfusion Center decide everything about the blood itself.

Is there an iPhone app?

The iOS app builds and runs, but it is not on the App Store. Android is the supported platform.
